| Our $120,000 Contribution to the Economy of our County
The construction of Habitat Houses #29 and House #30 in 2010 will require spending $120,000 in building materials and subcontracts, all to be spent in Amherst County (with volunteer labor the market value of the houses will be over $200,000). The $120,000 is money that we need to raise. To date, we have the $5,000 grant from the Greater Lynchburg Community Trust. We raised $2000 at the Annual Habitat 5K Walk/Run in November with the participation of 129 hardy souls. We raised $4000 at our Bluegrass: Building a Solid Foundation attended by 500 Bluegrass and Habitat lovers. Our goal is to raise $50,000 from the Amherst County community through increase individual donations, corporate support and grant writing.
